Welcome to the Long Beach Peninsula! Nestled in the southwestern-most corner of Washington state, this 28-mile expanse of public beach has been a vacation destination since the late 1800s, when families from Portland would make their way down the Columbia River on steamships, cross the river by ferry and take a narrow gauge railroad up the peninsula to places like Ilwaco, Seaview, Long Beach, Klipsan Beach, and Nahcotta to spend the summer away from the city. Autumn is a particularly magical time on this narrow strip of land as it marks the beginning of the fall mushroom bloom, cranberry bog harvest, shorebird migration, and razor clam digs.
