Protected from ocean winds by grassy dunes, Discovery Trail meanders for 8.3 miles parallel to the shoreline and up and over the Cape Disappointment headlands. The paved path is great for biking with manageable slopes and meandering curves. At times, it opens up to big views of the beach and ocean; at others, it traverses scrub pine forests, coastal wetlands, and temperate rainforests. Start from the Seaview or Sid Snyder beach approach and peddle south toward the rocky outcroppings at Beard’s Hollow. Return on the same route.
